The Rotary Club of Bingley received its Charter in March 1931, as an offshoot of the Rotary Club of Bradford. In 1985 our members were instrumental in forming our daughter club, Bingley Airedale, in order to accommodate existing and potential Rotarians who found lunchtime meetings difficult to attend.
Our weekly meetings take place on a Friday, starting at 12.30 p.m. and are held at The Ramada Jarvis Bankfield Hotel, Bradford Road, Bingley. Members are drawn from Bingley and surrounding districts and from a wide range of occupations and professions, providing a broad selection of interests and expertise within the Club.
Throughout the history of the Club many fund-raising and service projects have been undertaken and many hundreds of thousands of pounds raised for the benefit of the local community as well as for national and international Rotary projects. Examples include the recent provision, in collaboration with Bingley Airedale and Keighley clubs, of a £60,000 Life Education mobile classroom for the use of schools in the Aire Valley. Our regular annual undertakings include a tea & concert for elderly local residents, collections for needy local families at Christmas, the provision of places on a youth leadership development course and awards for outstanding community service to local secondary school students.
In addition to the weekly meetings a large number of social activities provide a strong fellowship link for all Club members.
